How it works

Support, warmth and massage.

Air columns brace your lower back. Warmth loosens the stiff muscles around it, and a gentle vibration gives the ache something else to compete with.

What the air does.

Seen from behind: pumped up, the columns firm up and hug your lower back.

  1. Air columns Upright columns all around the belt. Pumped up, they firm up and hug your lower back as you stand and move.
  2. Warming panel Sits on your lower back and glows red when it is on.
  3. Hand pump About 30 squeezes, roughly a minute. Sore hands? Pump a few, rest, then finish: the air stays in until you press the valve.
  4. Release valve Let the air out any time, with one press.
  5. Controller On the front: heat, massage and power, with a clear display.
  1. Close-up of a hand squeezing the Back Belt hand pump while wearing the belt

About 1 minto pump it up

    Air columns that brace

Fasten the belt, then squeeze the hand pump. The columns firm up around your waist, so your lower back feels supported as you move.

  2. The Back Belt laid out flat: gray air columns, a warming panel and the digital controller

    113–149°F3 levels · start on 1

    Steady warmth

Three levels: 113, 131 and 149°F at the panel (the display reads 45, 55 and 65°C). Warmth loosens tight back muscles. Start on level 1.

    A gentle vibration massage

Gentle vibration across the lower back. Pair it with the warmth and the support, or use it on its own.

  4. Man taking a coffee break in his garage while wearing the Back Belt

    A clear, rechargeable controller

The display shows what is on and how warm it is. It charges by USB, so there is no cord while you work, drive or rest.

How to use it

Five steps, end of shift.

Tighten first, then pump, then warmth on level 1 (113°F). Give it two weeks of end-of-shift sessions, and you have 90 nights to decide.

Wear 30–60 min · Move 10

  1. Woman in her sixties with coffee in her kitchen, wearing the Back Belt over a white T-shirt

    Step 1: Tighten first

Wrap the belt around your waist, warming panel at your lower back, and close it snug over a thin shirt.

  2. Man in his garage wearing the Back Belt, holding its hand pump

    Step 2: Then pump

Squeeze the hand pump, about 30 times, until it feels firm and snug. Never pinching. One press of the valve lets the air out.

  3. Close-up of a finger pressing the heat button on the Back Belt controller, display reading 45

Step 3: Pick warmth and massage

Press heat for level 1 to start. Add the massage if you like, or keep it to the support alone. One press turns the heat off.

  4. Man taking a coffee break in his garage while wearing the Back Belt

Step 4: Wear it 30 to 60 minutes

Standing, sitting or on a break. Keep the heat to about 15 of those minutes, then one press switches it off and the support keeps going.

  5. Man doing a gentle standing back stretch with his hands on the kitchen counter

    Step 5: Move for 10

Do the five standing moves on Dr. Anna's card. No floor work.

The research

Why warmth works

Warmth is one of the first things doctors recommend for a sore lower back. Here is why.

  • 1st-linefor low-back pain

The American College of Physicians lists heat as a first-line option for low-back pain.

American College of Physicians guideline, 2017 (acute and subacute low-back pain)

  • Best back belt I’ve owned

The digital screen is a nice touch, showing you exactly what’s happening with the temperature and vibration. It’s very effective for relieving lower back pain after a long day of work.

  • It’s easy

It really didn’t do much for me. It’s not strong enough! I changed my mind. My son showed me how to use it better. So it is helping me.

Our tip: Close the belt snug first, then pump about 30 squeezes until it feels firm. That is when the support takes hold.

  • Tried it out immediately: very nice!

Tried it out immediately: very nice! I hope this has helped with the recovery of my two hernias. However, the user manual doesn’t mention anywhere how to let the air out again, but I finally found a key for that in a compartment.

Our tip: The release valve sits on the pump: one press lets the air out.

  • Heat and massage the pain away!

Waking up every day not being able to bend over and grab my socks. Since getting this belt I use it daily and wake up with no back pain.

  • Good product

This has been an extremely effective belt, supportive and the convenience of cordless is amazing. It has replaced a very uncomfortable, restrictive brace that didn’t get to the lower back, problem area. The heat works great, which normally is not hot enough for me even on heating pads, but I have turned this down.

Good to know

Still unsure? Write to us. A real person answers within 1 business day.

How long should I wear it? Won't it weaken my core?

30 to 60 minutes at a time, over a thin shirt. Then let the air out and do Dr. Anna's 10 minutes of standing moves while your back is warm. Support for the hard part, and your own muscles do the rest, so the ease carries into your day.

I have a herniated disc or sciatica. Is it for me?

Yes, for the ache and stiffness in your lower back. Sciatica your doctor already knows about? Start gentle: light support and heat on level 1. New or worsening numbness, a weak leg or trouble with your bladder? See your doctor first.

How soon will I know it is working?

You feel the support as soon as it is pumped up, and the warmth within minutes. Give it two weeks of end-of-shift sessions with the five moves, and you have 90 nights to decide.

How warm does it get?

Three levels: 113, 131 and 149°F at the panel, gentler through your shirt. Start on level 1. You're in charge of the heat: after about 15 minutes, one press turns it off, and the support and massage keep going.

Heat or ice?

Warmth for stiffness and the everyday ache: doctors list it as a first-line option for low-back pain. Cold is for a fresh injury in its first day or two.

How does the support feel?

Like a firm, steady hug around your lower back. Pump until it feels firm, never tight. The columns brace your back while you stand, bend and move, and one press of the valve lets the air out.

Will it fit me?

With the extender in the box, it fits waists from 29 to 49 in. Not the right fit? We swap it or take it back, free.

Can I wear it under my clothes? Will it itch?

Yes, under a loose shirt, scrubs or a jacket. The lining is soft knitted cotton, and it sits best over a thin T-shirt.

What if it loses air?

Holds air, or we replace it. If it ever loses air in the first 2 years, we ship a new one first.

Is it safe for me?

For most adults, yes. Start with light support and level 1 over a shirt. Pregnant, recent belly or spine surgery, rods or screws in your back, osteoporosis, or a belly hernia? Check with your doctor first. Safety guide

Can I try it risk-free?

Yes. Try it at home for 90 nights, even used. Not in love? We email you a free label and refund you as soon as it's scanned. And it's covered for 2 years: a replacement ships first.

Shipping, and buying it for someone?

Tracked shipping is $4.90, free on orders of $150 or more, with no surprise fees. Buying it for someone? It goes on alone in about a minute: wrap, close, pump. Add a gift note in your cart. Their 90 nights start the day it arrives.
